The Habitat International Film Festival Returns with it’s Annual Celebration of Celluloid Magic
The Habitat International Film Festival, now in its 6th edition, brings to Delhi critically acclaimed international films from nearly 15 countries, bringing award winning films of 2024 from contemporary World Cinema as well as restored classics of legendary icons of International Cinema like Vittorio De Sica , Satyajit Ray, Federico Fellini among others.
Being organised in March, the Festival will retain a focus on Women’s Voices on-screen, showcasing the brilliant minds of several women directors. Icíar Bollaín’s I'm Nevenka/ Soy Nevenka tells the poignant story of the pioneer of Spain’s MeToo Movement, Saulė Bliuvaitė’sToxic, Zwei gegen die Bank/ Two against the Bank (dir. Clara Stern), September Says (dir. Ariane Labed), Bird (dir. Andrea Arnold), The Outrun (dir. Nora Fingscheidt) and more capture women in their myriad hues. Films such as Emilia Perez (dir. Jacques Audiard), The Crossing (dir. Levan Akin) and Queer (dir. Luca Guadagnino) further bring in the poignancy of LGBTQ+ stories to the screen.
The festival will also feature some fascinating documentaries, such as Albert Serra’s documentation of a bull-fighter and his perspective on his craft - Tardes de Soledad, Juan Carlos Núñez Chavarría’s exploration of magical-religious syncretism in Río de Sapos/ River of Toads. Join us as we explore these visual tapestries, woven with the myriad threads of human emotion and life.

Focus Country: Italy
The focus on Italian cinema has been curated by Stefano Francia di Celle, former director of Torino Film Festival and in charge of RAI movie archive in collaboration with Andrea Anastasio, Director of Italian Embassy Cultural Centre.
The focus is divided into two parts: a selection of films produced and released in 2024 and a selection of classics, to celebrate the centenary of the birth of the legendary Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni.
The selection of new films has been curated to showcase a wide range of genres and authorial voices, made possible through the ITALIAN SCREENS initiative, supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
From drama to brilliant comedy the Indian audience will have a chance to experience a multiplicity of voices that spans from the generation that came soon after the maestros of Italian cinema to the younger authors who have been recently viewed at the Venice Film Festival.
The Focus will also celebrate the work of Cineteca di Bologna “L’Immagine Ritrovata” and Cineteca Nazionale for contributing to the conservation of films that deserve to be consigned to the next generations. Restored Classics include among others, The Apu Trilogy by Satyajit Ray and films by Vittorio De Sica that inspired Ray’s oeuvre.
